History

John Pittard Elementary (JPE) located on DeJarnette Lane in Murfreesboro opened in 2007 and currently serves approximately 800 students in kindergarten through 6th grade.

JPE was the first elementary school in Murfreesboro to be a geothermal energy school site. This design takes advantage of geothermal heating and cooling systems by pumping water into the ground to be heated or cooled to the earth's stable temperature.

Home of the Lions and known as the Pittard Pride, JPE students and staff are proud of our focus on STEAM based instruction. JPE promotes a positive school and learning environment and has achieved the gold level status for Response To Intervention from Vanderbilt University.

The school is named in honor of former attorney, vice mayor, and four-term Murfreesboro city council member, John Pittard, who believed in and supported a strong public education system.
