Welcome to my webpage!  My name is Rebecca Woods and while this is only my third year at John Pittard Elementary, I am not new to teaching nor sixth grade!  I was born and raised in Ohio, starting out near Cleveland and then moving to Springfield when I married my husband.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Wright State University and my Master's from Wittenberg University.   I taught 6th grade social studies for 13 years in Springfield, Ohio as well science and social studies in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  6th grade is my absolute FAVORITE grade to teach and I was so excited to get hired here at JPE as it is a wonderful, supportive place to work and learn!

Below are some facts about me that students frequently ask about:

Family:  I have been married for 21 years, and we have 3 daughters: one 19 year old and 11 year old twins

Mrs. Woods and Daughters at the Beach‚Äč

Pets:  1 yellow lab mix named Nellie, a calico kitten named Noelle, 2 eyelash crested geckos named Mr. Jibbles and Miss Kibby Jumpers                                                     Nellie Cat on the couch

Hobbies: Reading, baking, shopping, relaxing on our front porch, hiking, traveling, playing card games with  my girls

Favorite Foods:  Pizza, bacon cheeseburgers, most international foods (Chinese, Indian, Thai, Mexican) , chocolate ANYTHING, frappuccinos from Starbucks, Cherry Coke Zero

Favorite Subjects to Teach:  I consider myself very lucky because I get to teach BOTH of my favorite subjects...science and social studies!  Many students come to me not liking social studies especially...my goal is to change your mind by the end of the year.  6th grade social studies is SO INTERESTING! I also really enjoy 6th grade science...there is a lot of earth science this year and earth science is my favorite part of science.

I can't wait to get into our year this year and to teach science and social studies in a fun, engaging manner!  Please feel free to contact me with questions as the year unfolds.  :-)
